I have an assignment due tomorrow for my photography class and we have to take pictures/ find pictures we have previously taken that would be considered stock photography… What are some examples that I could take by tomorrow without a car? I have pictures of different places I have traveled, I can take pictures of food, technology, art stuff, and other simple things like that. If it helps, I am a college student living on campus without a car or transportation off campus…

I have a panoramic photo that I need printed out to fit in a 8 x 10 frame. I need to paste it onto a white background so that it will fill up the 8 x 10 frame and I can send it to a drug store to get printed out. I have tried iPhoto and couldn’t find that feature, and picnik doesn’t have it either. Does anyone know of any online free photoshop I could use for this or any other ideas? Photofiltre doesn’t work on macs btw.

Never used iPhoto, but I would normally open a 10 X 8 blank canvas and simply copy and paste the image onto it, adjust to taste.

I’ve got a few good landscape and nature photographs and i’m saving for a trip to Africa and need to raise some money. If i cant sell them on ebay, is there anywhere else? Like could i make them into postcards? or sell on a different site?

Sure. You own the images, and as long as they’re not of someone else, you don’t need anyone’s permission to sell them.
The tough part is getting enough money to cover your expenses, though, if you’re going to try to use an auction format. It’s going to cost money to print the posters or pictures on canvas. And make sure you have a good idea what adequate packaging will cost you, and shipping costs as well.
Check out the website called Etsy – it’s kind of an arts-and-crafts online store where people sell their work.

The prices on site’s like Getty and iStock are absurd.
I’m looking for a few high quality stock images that are, perhaps, royalty free.
I could run a Google Search, but I’m sure there’s a helpful site that has the photos aggregated.

Actually the prices on iStock and Getty gutted the income of photographers who used to depend upon sales to secondary markets.
Stock images are NEVER free. The photographer who owns the copyrights needs compensation and there are administrative fees that have to be paid to those who catalog and distribute said stock photos.
You have two choices. Pay for the rights you need or go out with your camera and shoot what you need.
It all comes down what you are willing to pay.

Sites like Fotolia and Dreamstime, stock photography sites, can the average person make any real money on those sites? I can’t seem to find anywhere what the average pay out is, or what the chances are someone will buy your photo, etc. has anyone done this before? any tips?

Selling photos for 20 cents devalues the entire industry and wastes your time. They would have you believe that you can sell a single photo thousands of times, but once a photo is in common circulation it will be stolen more than it sold. They will also have thousands of photos competing with you. When you consider the time to produce, edit, upload, describe and tag a photo, you will get several hours in to each one. Selling 3 or 4 copies a year just is not worth it. Even worse is when the site sells a subscription and you get even less for each image used.
Additionally what I ran in to with one site is that there was one photographer with 50,000 images in the database. In order to compete I wrote a script to batch upload a couple hundred of my images, they responded by rejecting the entire batch, wasting hours worth of my work. It seem to me that this photographer probably had a relation to the site and they were attempting to protect him and just using other images for variety and search engine rank. My numbers were kept so low it never reached the minimum payout amount and it is likely there were a lot of images sold though the system that they never paid out for the same reason.
The next issue is that the photography market is severely flooded. Only top quality, unique images are work anything. If you have sunsets, flowers, other scenics, or pets, the stock sites don’t want them, they already have too many.
If you want to sell stock, stick to the high end sites that pay what the image is worth.

Hi,
You can try Guru or Flickr. There are many freelance web sites out there. Do a web search on freelance web sites.
Being 14 you should be commended for your initiative. But you must be very careful about what information you put on the internet. Be sure to speak with you parents about this. There are a lot of crazy people out there.
